Consistent & Quality Posting

…he’s baaaaack!

Heisler Park in Laguna Beach feels like a tropical paradise to me. My crew and I were able to enjoy the views from the top of the bluff and walk down to the beach areas for tidepooling or wading.

For the first three years of my blog’s existance, I didn’t post consistently. Sometimes I posted several times in a week and then not again for a month.

One reason for the paucity – I had been waiting until I had something to “sell/pitch/promote”.

Well, my production team (Tremendous Entertainment Inc.) and I have a few balls in the air, including Street Eats, but there is still much work to do on my end and it begins here.

Consistency is Key

Y’all, I know I gotta do better with blogging regularly. Consistent blogging is key to successful communication and supporting/building readers and brand.

I think consistency is one of the biggest determining factors between a blog that’s serious and one that’s just a nonchalant hobby. Pick a schedule, and then stick to it to the best of your ability. Even if it’s once a month, that’s consistent if you post once every month on the same day. Your readers can have something to expect from you.

Quality Content

The next crime I committed after I chose to start becoming more consistent was posting totally random stuff for the sake of posting. I’m gonna tell ya’ you don’t wanna do that either. If you want people to take your blog and brand seriously, don’t make ’em read your boring content. If you aren’t excited when you press the publish button, don’t publish it!!

Love For Sale

This is something I learned just this year. I’m am NOT a sales person. I don’t like to push things on people and the thought of selling my blog embarrassed me. But you know what…the truth of the matter is no one is going to know I wrote a post if I don’t tell ’em. I’m not on FACEBOOK and there is so much stuff on the net, it’s easy to be buried in the noise. You gotta put it out there, baby! More than once.

Social Media Sharing

I started sharing my posts more often with other bloggers and have committed to Tweeting links. More people are finding my content.

Don’t be afraid to sell yourself!

Heisler Park - Laguna Beach, CA. The park was named after Howard G. Heisler, who bought the property in 1905. It contains art sculptures and offers many amenities, including paved walking paths, large grass lawns, picnic tables, charcoal grills, a gazebo, outdoor showers (at the bottom of the stairways leading to the beaches), bathroom facilities, and, of course, the beaches, where you can lay out on the sand, explore coves or go tide pooling.
