How much Kevin’s groceries in ‘Home Alone’ cost today | NewsNation

How much would Kevin McCallister’s groceries in “Home Alone” cost today? NewsNation sent Nick Smith to the grocery store to see how much inflation has changed prices in 32 years.

Kevin’s outing cost him $19.83 for milk, bread, toilet paper, laundry detergent, fabric softener, cling wrap, macaroni-and-cheese, a turkey TV dinner, orange juice, and a bag of plastic Army men.

Food inflation, which most recently increased 10.9% year-over-year from 11.2% previously, is based on prices for “food at home” items (supermarket or grocery store prices) and pricing items for “food away from home” (foodservice or restaurant purchases).
